2023 will see many exciting group additions to Fortitude

Core Supports

Fortitude supports people how they want to be supported. We nurture every persons individuality and interests.

Whether it be having fun out in the community, learning and practising  mental health strategies and mindfulness to keep themselves well, exploring their love of art and photography or support to attend appointments. We have support workers that specialise in wellness activities such as meditation and drumming. We motivate out participants with planning, routine and organisation, meal planning and cooking meals with them that support their nutrition. Our support workers offer a variety of wellness activities that bring together fun and skills, to help Participant’s feel more confident with emotional regulation and coping during their not so great days.  We also support Participants with short term accommodation stays.

Recovery Coaching

We offer Psychosocial Recovery Coaching to support Participants to understand their NDIS plans and how their funding can be utilised. We educate Participants on their choice and control when it comes to supported decision making and choice of what they want their life to look like.  We connect Participants with appropriate service providers and therapists and make sure they understand how their service providers can support them holistically and respectfully. We support Participants to stay up-to-date with their funding budget to ensure their supports fit within their funded plan amount.

Our Recovery Coaches, support Participants to build their capacity and skills to increase their independence, social participation and economic participation. We also support them to take more control over their life and provide coaching from a recovery focus to build their strength and resilience.

Our Recovery Coaches work closely with Participants and their family and carers of their choice. We collaborate with service provider stakeholders to ensure that participant needs are met and all evidence is submitted for plan reviews.  Individual recovery plans are completed every three months to capture Participants strengths, challenges, short-term goals and wellness.

Meditation

Becoming first interested in meditation in the hopes that a love one going through a rough time would take it up, Ash began practising meditation and mindfulness herself.
After noticing differences within herself, she started to meditate more frequently and made it a daily practice before work. On a couple of occasions, Ash was asked by colleagues if she could teach them. Ash decided to get her Meditation teaching qualification. This combined with trauma informed practice, strengthens Ash’s ability to teach the art of meditation to people that struggle with their mental health.

Ash has also  studied children’s meditation and mindfulness.

Ash focuses on building strong, trusted relationships with her Participants first,  in order for her to safely guide them through the practice. Each practice is tailored around the individual and starts off with shorter practices and building from there.

With teachings of the scientific benefits that meditation and mindfulness have on the mind and body, as well as her own personal experience, Ash truly believes that everyone can benefit from regularly taking time out of their day, to be present and in the moment. Ash loves being able to provide that safe space for people to be able to feel grounded.
